Luke 8:5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell bythe way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devouredit. 6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it witheredaway, because it lacked moisture. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and chokedit. 8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? 10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdomof God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearingthey might not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, andtaketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and besaved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word withjoy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptationfall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard,go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Luke 10:38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certainvillage: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, andheard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said,Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bidher therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art carefuland troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, whichshall not be taken away from her.
Luke 11:33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secretplace, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which comein may see the light. 34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy bodyalso is full of darkness. 35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. 36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, thewhole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle dothgive thee light.
Luke 12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Takeno thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, whatye shall put on. 23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. 24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither havestorehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better thanthe fowls? 25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? 26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thoughtfor the rest? 27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; andyet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like oneof these. 28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye oflittle faith? 29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither beye of doubtful mind. 30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and yourFather knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall beadded unto you. 32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to giveyou the kingdom. 33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax notold, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, andwife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also,he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be mydisciple.

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust ofthe eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth thewill of God abideth for ever.
